I’ve found it tricky to get myself in blog mode this week. I got lots of posts scheduled for the start of the week and planned to get some more done this weekend. I find that mood really affects what I do and a low mood has meant writers block!

I knew I needed to get out and get some fresh air and sunshine and was inspired by Ros over at dreamdays to get myself out to Hartsholme Park. It is a 2 min walk away from my house with a beautiful lake in the centre and several trails you can take so it is the perfect place for a stroll. We don’t go often enough but seeing the pics Ros took reminded me we needed to go more!

I walked around the lake and it gave me some time just breath in the fresh air and think. There is something about being out in the sunshine that makes you feel brighter.

I took the opportunity to take some pictures. The light was great to get some colour in the shots. I also have some new lenses for my iPhone camera that are supposed to add curvature to the picture and magnify the image. They were v.cheap and although they are not great I enjoyed playing with them. It got a little frustrating after a while to get the lense placed properly so it left some pictures with a blur but while I can’t afford a proper camera these will do! I do have this on my wish list now though πŸ“·

I enjoyed walking on my own while the hubby was at work and, although I don’t make resolutions, I do want to get out to the park more this year.

Do you have a favourite place to walk to clear your head? Or is getting out and active part of your new year, new you campaign? I’d really like to connect with more bloggers this year and appreciate reading others thoughts and ideas, so as always you know where to leave a comment 😊

A new everyday foundation – my everyday this past few months has been either just my MAC concealer or No7 Stay Perfect Light but I am not 100% sold on the finish and staying power. I am on the look out for a simple drugstore foundation that has great coverage and finish but is light enough to use everyday. Any recommendations would be muchly appreciated 😊

Urban DecayΒ Naked Skin foundation – I am always on the lookout for a good foundation and although 2015 is about finding the best drugstore buy I am also coveting this bad boy. Kim K allegedly wore this on her wedding day so what better advertisement is there 😜

Soap and GloryΒ No Clogs Allowed – my skin has been all over the place this last year and my aim is to find something that will bring it back to its relatively blemish free state. I read a great review on this and and now it is on my new year wish list. Also the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Detox Mask featured in a another recent review I liked so this has sneaked its way on to my wish list too!

Too Faced Chocolate Bar – For the past year I have been in an (almost) monogamous relationship with my Naked2 palette by Urban Decay. As much as I love it I do feel as though I need to branch out in to new territories and have heard great things about the Chocolate Bar palette.

Lipsticks in general as these aren’t really my thing! I have a couple that I wear but more often than not I go out without lipstick and just some lip balm on. MAC lipsticks in particular are on my radar this year.

A lot of my polishes have been chipping after only a couple of days wear so a new long lasting top coat is a must this year. Not sure on a brand that can deliver this so if anyone can recommend something I would LOVE you!

Dior Addict – this is an acquired smell and not everyone will like this. On first spray it is very strong but as it settles it becomes a musky bold scent that I just love. It has been years since I owned this so 2015 is the year to bring it back!

Lush bath bombs – again these haven’t been seen in my bathroom for years but I want to give some of these little beauties another chance. First things first though, I need to get a good bathroom cleaner and give the bath a good scrub!

What products are you planning on venturing out to buy this year? Have you tried and loved (or loathed) any on my list? As always you know where the comment box is (it’s under the post just in case you forgot!) πŸ™‚

Well as promised here’s post about my trip, or should I say our honeymoon, to New York! I know, if you’re anything like me, that you all love to hear about amazing holidays other people have been on and don’t feel the slight bit jealous! On the other hand I may have had holiday envy of loads of people in the past 11 years since I last flew off for a break! So here goes…

We went for 5 nights and 6 days and packed very light with the intention of bringing lots back with us ✈️ I had my sights set in duty free, Sephora and MAC visits along with Bloomingdales, Macy’s and lots in between. In reality the hubby ended up spending more than me as I couldn’t decide on anything I wanted up until that last 2 days! And rather embarrassingly for someone who has a blog centred around beauty, the make up I bought hit a grand total of 0! I couldn’t make my mind up on what to buy, then decided I would visit the MAC store in the airport and well we ran out of time once we got through check in and security so I ended up with nothing. Damn my indecisiveness!

The trip itself was amazing. We did loads of sight seeing and far too much walking due to my reluctance to use the subway. I mean we’ve all heard horror stories haven’t we and I was scared to use the tube for months after my sister in law forced me to watch the horror ‘Creep’! Fast forward to our feet being swollen and sore on day 5 and me finally deciding the subway can’t be all bad and we managed to fit a bit more in.

We visited the 5th Avenue, Tiffanys, Times Square, Broadway, Rockefeller Centre, Central Park, The Natural History Museum, Grand Central Station, Bloomingdales (my mum calls it Bloomies – Friends reference – no?), Macy’s, lots more shops, diners, a steakhouse, the 9/11 memorial and on Christmas Day itself we walked down to the Brooklyn Bridge, through Soho, Greenwich Village, Little Italy and China Town. I loved Brooklyn – the area around the bridge was really cool but most of it was closed 😞

The food was amazing and after a feast of big breakfasts, burgers, steak, crab cakes, a truly amazing Mexican and a Chinese takeaway (for our Christmas dinner no less!), I have to say that I think the hot dog and warm pretzel from a street vendor outside Central Park stole it for me!

For those of you who haven’t been to New York yet, you must go! The scale and size of the city is something else. You can’t help but walk around looking up with your mouth open taking in the towering buildings above. Although it isn’t the cleanest city and some areas, like China Town, were downright skanky (sorry China Town) it is a place you must visit at least once in your life 😍

We would love to go back as we didn’t do everything on our wish list. I would say if you go – do your research, take a guide book and plenty of spending money!

Sooo many photos but here is selection for you 😊

I had intended to post a NOTD about one of my cute little polishes from my Ciate Advent Calendar but after applying it in a rush I forgot to take a picture and as it had chipped by the next day so I couldn’t take one 😞

Instead I thought I would post about my New Years Eve bargain. After a browse round H&M I came home with this bad boy for the measly sum of Β£1! The colour appeared a little split but after a good shake it was back to its original self.

When applying the polish it is quite runny so you have to be careful to wipe a little off the brush. Also the thick lid / handle is a little bulky to use. I absolutely love the shade though so it can over look these little niggles.

This is the first H&M polish I have bagged so I’m not sure what the staying power is like. Let’s hope it lasts longer than a day before I manage to chip it!

Are you a fan of H&M polishes? Do you have any tips or products that stop your nail varnish chipping? As always you know where the comment box is – get typing 😊

I’m sure I’ve banged on about my skin in a lot of posts since I started the blog but it is a real bug bare for me! Although my skin wasn’t flawless and I suffered from the odd spot and blemish it was in reasonably good condition. Over the past year, however, my skin has broken out and I’ve had some really bad (for me) clusters of spots around my chin and on my forehead, along with lots of little white spots under the surface of the skin and tons more blackheads.

I have experimented with a few well known products and I honestly think the Clinque and Liz Earle ranges made it worse. But you can’t go wrong with the natural ingredients from Lush.

Mask of Magnaminty smells very fresh and pepperminty, not surprising really as its packed with peppermint oil! It has a grainy texture and a lovely colour that makes me look like I should be in the cast of Wicked when I wear it πŸ˜‰ It gently tingles for the entire time you wear it, which for me was around 15 minutes, and I like the fact the feeling doesn’t wear off like some heated masks do.

The removal was not as nice as the tingling before it though! As with lots of Lush products it was a messy affair to get rid of it but once I had wet and massaged my face, and cleaned the sink of the gritty green gunk, I had lovely soft skin that felt cleaner and more refreshed. I love the fact that it exfoliates as you remove it to get rid of the grimy skin and dirt – this leaves to softest feeling on your skin. I would probably recommend a flannel or muslin cloth to help remove it, which I’ll definitely do next time!

I aim to use this once a week so we will see if it makes any difference to my skin in the long term.

Do you have any favourite face masks that you swear buy to settle problem skin? Or maybe a favourite Lush product? As always stick a comment in the box below and share your thoughts 😊
