I’m not someone who loves a bath regularly, as I much prefer showering, but when I do have a soak a little Lush lovely popped in there makes it worth it. Now that little Freddie has taken up camp inside, I am enjoying more baths to help relieve the aches and pains. I’ve ran out of my little Lush stockpile I got for my birthday so needed to stock up on some bath bombs quickly!

After I little trip to Lushย this week, I picked myself up the Christmas Bathtime Favourites box (no longer available online). It came in a lovely, Christmasy box (put away to reuse next year!) and smelt great when I opened it, not that the hubby agreed and he made me take it out of the room immediately! ๐Ÿ˜‚

ย ย

I have been dying to try the Father Christmas bath bomb, so I ran myself a bath and popped it in. It smelt amazingly sweet and as it fizzed away the bath turned an unexpected shade of bright green!

ย ย ย

Once it had fizzed away I could turn off the lights (and stupidly noisy fan), light some candles and stick Dinner Date on the iPad (guilty viewing pleasure!) Bliss!

What are your favourite Lush products? Or are there any other bath products you couldn’t live without, especially when pregnant?

As always leave me a little note in the comments section below ๐Ÿ˜Š

Face

A new everyday foundation – my everyday this past few months has been either just my MAC concealer or No7 Stay Perfect Light but I am not 100% sold on the finish and staying power. I am on the look out for a simple drugstore foundation that has great coverage and finish but is light enough to use everyday. Any recommendations would be muchly appreciated ๐Ÿ˜Š

Urban Decayย Naked Skin foundation – I am always on the lookout for a good foundation and although 2015 is about finding the best drugstore buy I am also coveting this bad boy. Kim K allegedly wore this on her wedding day so what better advertisement is there ๐Ÿ˜œ

Soap and Gloryย No Clogs Allowed – my skin has been all over the place this last year and my aim is to find something that will bring it back to its relatively blemish free state. I read a great review on this and and now it is on my new year wish list. Also the Sanctuary Spa 5 Minute Detox Mask featured in a another recent review I liked so this has sneaked its way on to my wish list too!

Eyes

Too Faced Chocolate Bar – For the past year I have been in an (almost) monogamous relationship with my Naked2 palette by Urban Decay. As much as I love it I do feel as though I need to branch out in to new territories and have heard great things about the Chocolate Bar palette.

Lips

Lipsticks in general as these aren’t really my thing! I have a couple that I wear but more often than not I go out without lipstick and just some lip balm on. MAC lipsticks in particular are on my radar this year.

Nails

A lot of my polishes have been chipping after only a couple of days wear so a new long lasting top coat is a must this year. Not sure on a brand that can deliver this so if anyone can recommend something I would LOVE you!

Scent

Dior Addict – this is an acquired smell and not everyone will like this. On first spray it is very strong but as it settles it becomes a musky bold scent that I just love. It has been years since I owned this so 2015 is the year to bring it back!

Body

Lush bath bombs – again these haven’t been seen in my bathroom for years but I want to give some of these little beauties another chance. First things first though, I need to get a good bathroom cleaner and give the bath a good scrub!

What products are you planning on venturing out to buy this year? Have you tried and loved (or loathed) any on my list? As always you know where the comment box is (it’s under the post just in case you forgot!) ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m sure I’ve banged on about my skin in a lot of posts since I started the blog but it is a real bug bare for me! Although my skin wasn’t flawless and I suffered from the odd spot and blemish it was in reasonably good condition. Over the past year, however, my skin has broken out and I’ve had some really bad (for me) clusters of spots around my chin and on my forehead, along with lots of little white spots under the surface of the skin and tons more blackheads.

I have experimented with a few well known products and I honestly think the Clinque and Liz Earle ranges made it worse. But you can’t go wrong with the natural ingredients from Lush.

Mask of Magnaminty smells very fresh and pepperminty, not surprising really as its packed with peppermint oil! It has a grainy texture and a lovely colour that makes me look like I should be in the cast of Wicked when I wear it ๐Ÿ˜‰ It gently tingles for the entire time you wear it, which for me was around 15 minutes, and I like the fact the feeling doesn’t wear off like some heated masks do.

The removal was not as nice as the tingling before it though! As with lots of Lush products it was a messy affair to get rid of it but once I had wet and massaged my face, and cleaned the sink of the gritty green gunk, I had lovely soft skin that felt cleaner and more refreshed. I love the fact that it exfoliates as you remove it to get rid of the grimy skin and dirt – this leaves to softest feeling on your skin. I would probably recommend a flannel or muslin cloth to help remove it, which I’ll definitely do next time!

I aim to use this once a week so we will see if it makes any difference to my skin in the long term.

Do you have any favourite face masks that you swear buy to settle problem skin? Or maybe a favourite Lush product? As always stick a comment in the box below and share your thoughts ๐Ÿ˜Š

It’s happened to us all hasn’t it? You wake up in the morning, stumble to the mirror and see it staring at you. I almost imagine it sticking out its tongue and blowing a raspberry in delight that it has ruined your morning. What am I talking about? A bloody big spot!

It’s always at the worst time too. Before an interview, a big night out or the morning of your wedding in my case. Not one but three of the big buggers! I can picture the bacteria under the skin plotting away as you go through the day. Waiting for the most irritating time and then sending the troops out to invade your face!

My grandma has always said it’s because of the make up and all the products girls use. Her whole life she has only washed her face with soap (shock horror!) and then applied a thick moisturiser like Astral or Nivea. Her skin is perfect, even in her 70s she has barely any wrinkles and smooth skin. I tried it for a while in my late teens but found it did nothing to help my blackheads.

What I’ve Tried

So over the past couple of years, on a quest to get that perfect skin that we all crave, I have tried a few different ways to get rid of my face invaders. Two skin care routines that did nothing for my face were:

Clinque 3 Step for combination skin

Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanserย with toner and light moisturiser

Both of the products made my skin worse. I went from having the odd spot/cluster of spots to having constant spots particularly around my chin, nose and on my forehead. The Clinque made my skin tight and dry and the Liz Earle left it oily but soft.

I know they work for some but just not for me! I am now trying to help my skin recover from the assault. Before that I had used a lot of Lush products but before I go back to them I wanted to try a cheaper option so decided to try Simple.

Simple Products

Kind to Skin Refreshing Facial Gel Wash I use this every morning and it cleans my skin well without leaving it tight. I can’t say I’ve seen a huge improvements in blackheads and blocked pores yet but my skin is improving and I am getting less spots.

Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner This is great as again it doesn’t leave my skin feeling tight but it cleans away make up and grime that is left after I have cleansed. I use this morning and night.

Kind to Skin Hydrating Light Moisturiser I am not so keen on this one. It has an odd smell that isn’t as nice as the other products and although it does leave my skin soft I am on the look out for another moisturiser.

Kind to Eyes Eye Make-up Remover I like this as it is gentle but although it claims to remove even waterproof mascara I still have black smudges in the morning. It works ok but again I think there may be a better product out there.

Kind to Skin Purifying Cleansing Lotion I use this in the evening to remove make-up and it does get a lot off the skin. I do have to use the toner afterwards though to remove the last traces as it leaves some behind. It does leave my face soft.

Kind to Eyes Soothing Eye Balm I’m not too sure about this product. It is a bit sticky and although it does moisturise under my eyes I am still getting dry patches there. The jury is still out on this one.

Spotless Skin Rapid Action Spot Zapper I have just started using this over the past two weeks so may be too soon to comment but it has dried up a couple of spots when I have used it on on my chin. It isn’t a miracle product and doesn’t make them disappear but seems to dry them up so they don’t pop and scar.

My Skin

A few pics from this morning. My skin looks quite good in these which I am happy about though the pictures aren’t good enough quality to show some of the little blemishes that remain. The amount of big spots has reduced but can’t get close enough to show the blackheads and blocked pores that are still there. You can also see the black smudges where the eye make-up remover didn’t quite get all of my mascara last night.
