I don’t know about anyone else but there is something really satisfying about making fudge! I usually use the slow cooker recipes but then I found this Nutella fudge recipe at Jane’s Patisserie and had to try it!

Big is obsessed with Nutella and Kinder Buenos, so it is the perfect combo for him. I stuck to the recipe from Jane, but I think I’ll try some different toppings on the next batch and a little less chocolate or Nutella as it’s very sweet.

A little word of warning – it is not for the health conscious!

What you’ll need

1x 397g can of Condensed Milk
300g Milk Chocolate, chopped
300g Nutella
25g Butter
125g Icing Sugar, sifted
Chopped up Kinder Bueno

What to do

1) Line a tin with greaseproof paper. I just picked a random casserole dish but Jane is more specific in her recipe.

2) Put the chopped chocolate, condensed milk, Nutella, and butter into a pan. Melt on a low heat, ensuring you stir often so that the chocolate doesn’t get stuck on the bottom and burn!

Tip: Don’t forget to put in the Nutella and have to add it afterwards like I did! The butter split so had to re-melt it – things never seem to run smoothly when I bake!

3) Once melted, pour into a large bowl. Sieve in the icing sugar and stir well. This bit will be a workout for your arms but it’s totally worth it! Pour into the tin and smooth over the mixture. Then take a minute to scrape the leftovers out of the pan and enjoy them!

4) Sprinkle the Kinder Bueno on top, and gently push the pieces into the fudge. Store in the fridge over night to set, or 4-5 hours if you can’t wait that long!

And there you have it. A moreish, chocolatey fudge that won’t last very long in our house!

If you can resist it, it would make a great present wrapped in cellophane and tied with ribbon. You could even save some money by making homemade gifts for the family by gifting it for Christmas (dare I use the c-word in September?!)

Confession time!

I have a confession to make. The first time I made this it was a total disaster! It had nothing at all to do with the recipe. No, it was due to the fact that Big bought me evaporated milk instead of condensed milk! I stupidly poured it in without realising until it was too late.

A little tip for you – evaporated milk will not set fudge!

Luckily the second time was a charm and it set perfectly. Little even enjoyed a nibble on some too!

Little Big Love

I am a little addicted to Instagram and over the last few weeks lots of people have been baking and making some yummy looking Christmas treats, so I thought I would get in on the action!

Picture from google search ‘Christmas treats’ – mmmmm 😋

I’ve always wanted to try my hand at making fudge. It seems so easy to make and if you try and buy it from a pix and mix it ends up costing about £100 for 3 pieces!

I searched for the easiest looking recipe I could, which turned out to be this one from the Feed Your Family for £20 website. It had to be easy as my last baking stint I went through last summer ended in disaster with a hospital trip and strapped up fingers (but that is another story! 😂)

So easy Toblerone fudge it was. After melting the Toblerone, chocolate and condensed milk in the slow cooker…

…I added the icing sugar. Cue kitchen looking like a snowstorm – that stuff gets everywhere!! ❄️

I then had to stir every 10 minutes (not an exact science and I definitely may have had a little nap and missed some stirs! 💤). After 80 mins it was ready to put in a tray to set in the fridge.

Getting it in the the tray was a nightmare! A too hot to touch slow cooker + sticky unset fudge = burnt hands ands lots of swearing! But I did it and after setting it the fridge it doesn’t look half bad 😊

I haven’t tasted it yet as I don’t want to ruin the illusion. I’ve packaged it up to give as little treats to family tomorrow – hope it’s half decent!

What Christmas treats have others made? I’m sure there will be plenty on offer tomorrow 🎄
